The Elgato is a fairly new device that everyone seems to think is better than the Hauppage PVR.. Well let me be the first to tell you its not. The Elgato requires a decent pc for you to make 1080p movies, even 720p without dropping frames. The reason being is that it used your PC to encode the mp4 when you have finished recording.

On the other hand, the hauppage PVR, does not use your PC to encode. It uses the hauppage recorder itself to record and saves it on your pc.. This is so much better, for example, last night i tried to record some Xbox One gameplay using the ELGATO, but it just drops frames.. So just a suggestion, get a hauuppage.. it does everyhting for you. much nicer.

Have had an Elgato for a while with no issues.
But I have got an alright PC.
Here's some Xbox One videos.
PS4 has HDCP so can't do this.

nice vids tms.. Do you run headphones with your xbox one?? I plan to and I'm not sure if the elgato support 7.1 dolby, it seems to only record stereo PCM via the HDMI, did you notice that?

no matter what i do the elgato only supports stereo sound when recording and it dumps my game into stereo mode on my amplifier too. Sucks really lol.

Ive been reading alot of reviews, and the first HD capture device you bought, was supposed to be the best, quality wise and especially software wise. I don't see too much difference between them all personally. I found the hauppage much easier to use, and you don't need to chop and change cables all the time. With my new ELGATO I now have to use my HIGH END LAPTOP and not my old shitty pc otherwise it drops frames so so bad.

Anyway, glad to see your enjoying the Xbox One as well mate, we just need some more quality games now. Smile

I have my 360 and my XB1 both connected to my Elgato and then that runs directly to my computer which lets face it I built to do what I am doing with it so no real loss there.

So far with some time constraints I haven't been able to play all the games I have for the XB1 as yet but I have plenty of time to do so I'm sure.

The games I have played so far are:
COD: Ghosts
Forza 5
NFS Rivals
Killer Instinct

Games still to play:
Battlefield 4
Fifa 14

But as I said plenty of time because my next big game is Titanfall in March.

hey tms,

So what happened to your channels mate? Did you give up? Too much work maybe.. XONEHQ just hit 3.4k on YouTube and nearly 12k on Twitter. Smile

Hopefully catch up with you sometime soon mate.
