Today, after owning and playing Xbox One games for well over 12 months, I booted up my Xbox One to play some games and nearly all of my games would not load at all. Every game disc I tried to play did the same thing. They all just crashed after about 5-10 seconds or so.

mmmmm I thought, maybe it could be my Xbox One needs a restart or that my bluray drive can't read the disc. First up I started by deleting and reinstalled a few games again from the original discs. All of the games re-installed perfectly but when I tried to load them again they crashed on the splash screen.

Maybe a Hard Restart/Hard Reset could help... I've known about the Hard Reset option for a while now so I decided to try it.. Nope, nothing. Battlefield 4, Far Cry 4, COD, none of the games would load.. Same story, I would insert the game into the Xbox One, the game was recognized, I click to load the game and it would start to load (full screen) and crash back to the dashboard. I tried Grand Theft Auto 5 and that worked just fine so now I was puzzled.

Next thing I tried to do was delete and recover my Xbox Live profile. It didn't take long but nope, that didn't work.

Finally, I took the final step and chose to "Restore Factory Defaults" under the settings menu.. Sad Sure I had to re-install everything, but at least it's a fixed now!

Xbox One Games - Games won't start/load after install:
If you're games won't load and crash back to the Xbox One dashboard all the time, try one of the following methods to get your games working again:

1. Hard Restart / Full Reboot / Xbox One Powercycle - To perform a Hard Restart hold down the power button on the Xbox One console for 5-10 seconds. The console will turn off. Wait a few seconds and turn your consoles back on. A Hard Restart (Powercycle) will flush the ram and should let you start your games again. You will know that the "Hard Restart" has worked when you see the GREEN Xbox One screen on startup.

2. Restore Factory Settings - Click the Start button on your Xbox One controller and go to "Settings" > "System". In the System area you will see a "Restore Factory Defaults" under "Storage". Click on "Restore Factory Defaults" and it should allow you to play and load your games again.

Restoring the Factory Settings on the Xbox One is really the last thing you want to do when you're games just won't start. I had to do it in the end after spending hrs trying the other methods.. I guarantee this will fix your problems when you have games that won't start.

If this helped you out, feel free to make a reply!

Just to confirm, if you had an external hard drive and backed up everything to that before a factory reset (obviously removing the hard drive before performing the reset), this would save you having to re-download everything, as you could just transfer it back?
