Hello.
Just thought I'd share this little find with you all, as I found it to be a very interesting find.
Once I discovered that the Xbox One's 360 backwards compatibility was region-free, I was thinking about the possibility of being able to play censored / banned 360 games in my country if I obtained another region's disc.
A good test for this was South Park Stick of Truth, as the PAL disc for this is actually different to the NTSC disc.
So, I purchased a NTSC disc copy of South Park and put it in my Xbox One, straight away it detects the disc as backwards compatible and proceeds to download "updates" (which is the GOD version of the game).
It appears to have given me the proper uncensored version, which I shouldn't be able to play here
I attached some screenshots as proof.
Hopefully this theory could work with other games too, but this is the only one I've tested it with.
So, to sum it all up, this is what you would do:
- Find a 360 Backwards compatible game censored or banned in your country
- Purchase the 360 disc from a US Seller (or other country where the game is complete)
- Put the disc in your Xbox one, and download the GOD version
- Finished
