Dovetail Games has announced that the first major route add-on for Train Sim World 3 (@trainsimworld) is on its way and will see players run trains through familiar landmarks in and around Britain's West Midlands. Birmingham Cross City is coming to Train Sim World 3 on November 15th!

Train Sim World 3: Birmingham Cross-City add-on introduces the Class 323 to its expansive locomotive roster

Train Sim World 3: Birmingham Cross-City add-on introduces the Class 323 to its expansive locomotive roster and has a busy timetable of passenger services to operate along the 37-mile route. Along the way lie landmarks familiar to locals and visitors to Britain’s second city such as the Cadbury Factory at Bournville, Birmingham New Street Station and the parallel running of the railway alongside the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. The city itself, once home to the Peaky Blinders and featuring more miles of canal than Venice, comes off the back of its recent hosting of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

As well as being released as Train Sim World 3’s first route add-on, Birmingham Cross-City will also be available as part of a UK Birmingham Starter Pack, which includes the Training Center and can be purchased as a standalone release, without requiring the base game.

As with Train Sim World 3’s core routes, all the latest weather and lighting features bring the suburban areas to life, including the brand-new dynamic weather system, beautiful volumetric skies and the new lighting system. Training Center, which was also new to Train Sim World 3, will form a key part of teaching players about their new Class 323 electric multiple unit (EMU) and how to operate it correctly. The unit, a stalwart of the West Midlands since the mid-1990s, comes liveried in West Midlands Railway colours and emits its distinctive traction motor sounds.

Players that purchased Train Sim World 3’s recent Loco Add-on Bundle or the RHTT ‘Railhead Treatment Train’ will also be able to operate this train along the Cross-City route.

Train Sim World 3: Birmingham Cross-City add-on will bring new challenges beyond its dense timetabling and frequent station stopping, such as taking on the Lickey Incline - a famed section of track known for its complex working back in the steam days and which still tests the skills of today’s freight drivers in the real world. The result is a route with a unique style of gameplay, different to the pace of Train Sim World 3’s core routes in Kent, California and mid-Germany.

And more is yet to come, with a new German route and US locomotive confirmed to be in the works in the latest roadmap along with another UK route in development through third party Rivet Games.

The Train Sim World 3: Birmingham Cross-City add-on will be available for pre-order from November 8 on Steam and then released for Windows PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles on November 15, 2022. The add-on, which requires prior purchase of Train Sim World 3, will be available for purchase digitally on Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store for £29.99/€35.99/$39.99.

Train Sim World 3: UK Birmingham Starter Pack which includes Training Center and the Birmingham Cross-City add-on, will be available as a standalone release for £29.99/€35.99*/$39.99.

Train Sim World 3 is available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and PlayStation Store with a Deluxe Edition available for £49.99/€59.99/$59.99, Standard Edition available for £39.99/€44.99/$49.99 and regional ‘Starter Packs’ each available for £29.99/€35.99/$39.99.
