Nightdive Studios (@NightdiveStudio) has released System Shock (@SystemShockGame), the fully fledged remake of the ground breaking original from 1994 that defined a genre. The game is built from scratch with the Unity Engine and is available for PC from Steam, Epic Game Store, and GOG. It will also launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 later.

System Shock was one of the first 3D games that took a methodical approach to exploration while revealing a story driven narrative through audio logs and messages scattered throughout the game world. It was a revolutionary step forward for the medium in a time when developers first began experimenting with interactive story telling.

Players were trapped aboard Citadel Station as they fought to survive against the cyborgs and mutated crew members corrupted by a maniacal A.I. known as SHODAN, one of the most treacherous antagonists ever conceived. System Shock offered an unparalleled experience that would solidify it as one of the greatest games of all time.

The System Shock remake combines the gameplay of the iconic original game with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface and all-new sounds and music.

Never-before-seen enemies, quality-of-life gameplay tweaks, a revamped hacking system and visceral new combat options — featuring a brutal dismemberment system —also await players new and old.

A legion of hostile and mutated creatures — created and controlled by the delightfully villainous SHODAN herself — await players as they make their way through Citadel Station's all-new areas, flexing their puzzle-solving skills and hacking prowess to reach new sectors of the station.

Players will also encounter traps, puzzles, and secrets in their pursuit of (hopefully) defeating SHODAN once and for all. A combination of stealth, cunning, and futuristic weaponry will be required to survive. When the System Shock remake arrives, players' puzzle-solving and survival skills will be put to the test.

Nightdive Studios worked closely with many of the members of the original System Shock team, including the voice of SHODAN, Terri Brosius.

System Shock is out now on PC from Steam, Epic Game Store, and GOG. The game will also launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 4|5 in the future; keep an eye out for more details.
